Kannawidan Ylocos Festival Ilocos Sur is a beautiful province located in the northern part of Luzon. It is a province rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. To show and share their treasures to the whole world, the locals conceived a festival that highlights these cultural traditions and they called it the “Kannadiwan Festival”. It is a celebration that lasts from the last week of January up to the first week of February. Included in the course of events is the commemoration of the foundation day of the province. On the opening day, there is usually a mass held at the St. Paul Metropolitan Cathedral. It is followed by a procession of the Patron Saints of the 40 parishes and images of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary around the city.        The Vigan City Fiesta is held in honour of St. Paul the Apostle, the city’s patron saint, on 25 January each year. Locals and tourists gather to experience and see the street dancing, carnivals, food fairs, and arts and crafts, adding to the attraction of this UNESCO World Heritage City. Vigan’s main church, the Metropolitan Cathedral is dedicated to St. Paul and it stands at the core of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia. The major Catholic educational institution in Vigan that stands beside the church is also dedicated to the patron, the St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur. Draft#1          A brand new year means some new year’s resolution. Like The great writer C.S Lewis said, there are far better things ahead than any we leave behind. So we must not repeat our previous mistakes. Instead, we must, and only must, reminiscence them and use them as our stepping stones so we can finally grasp our dreams.                      Last Dec. 31 2019, we started preparing for our New Year’s Celebration. Being estranged to the modern equivalent of feasts, we just have our usual dinner by 5:40 and we took a nap. We woke up by 9:00 pm. I sometimes think that it is better for me to end up being a cubby in a garret in this circumstances. Not being very pessimistic but this has been very evident throughout the year.
