To celebrate the breakthroughs in science and technology (S&T) in the Philippines, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and through Proclamation No. 169 of 1993, the NSTW is celebrated every third week of July to highlight the significant contributions of S&T to national development.

the celebration has become a platform for heralding S&T advocacy in the country. DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña said that the NSTW celebration "has the noble intention of harnessing the power of innovative technological ideas and concepts to power the Philippines toward new, boundless opportunities to solve longstanding societal problems." This year's theme, "Science for the People: Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Development," underpins the event's showcase on the latest innovations in technologies, products, and research that can help achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A NEW CHAPTER OF MY LIFE

Draft#1          A brand new year means some new year’s resolution. Like The great writer C.S Lewis said, there are far better things ahead than any we leave behind. So we must not repeat our previous mistakes. Instead, we must, and only must, reminiscence them and use them as our stepping stones so we can finally grasp our dreams.                      Last Dec. 31 2019, we started preparing for our New Year’s Celebration. Being estranged to the modern equivalent of feasts, we just have our usual dinner by 5:40 and we took a nap. We woke up by 9:00 pm. I sometimes think that it is better for me to end up being a cubby in a garret in this circumstances. Not being very pessimistic but this has been very evident throughout the year. No one has no dream. If he or she yet doesn’t have one, then he or she hasn’t decided yet on what to be in the future. When he or she has one, then he plans ahead of the rest and know what he or she wants to do in the future.
